Katie Eberts studied art at the University of Michigan Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design. She lives in Cedarville, Michigan with her husband and their friendly cat in a sweet little red cabin surrounded by flowers in the summer and piles of snow in the winter. As of May 2021, she is a co-IC (Illustrator Coordinator) for the Michigan Chapter of SCBWI. Her first illustrated cookbook, Fresh Made Simple was published by Storey Publishing in 2015, and her first picture book, Hush-A-Bye Night/Goodnight Lake Superior was published by Sleeping Bear Press in 2023. She has illustrated editorially for Brio, AT Journeys, Bon Appétit, Taproot, Washington Post magazine, Honest History, and a few others.
Outside of work she is really into gardening, x-country skiing, cooking, camping, and quilting. She loves antique stores, rummage sales, and thrift shops. Her favorite band is The Shins and most-watched movie is The Grand Budapest Hotel. One of her favorite accomplishments is playing first violin in the pit orchestra for a theatre production of The Sound of Music. In the summer she and her mom share a little boat they call 'Strawberry in the Wind'. Also in the summer, you can find her in an apron chopping and assembling very large salads as part of her husband's catering crew.
